Frequently asked questions
Do I need to create an account? +
No. Eat | Greet | Gather uses the iCloud identity already on your iPhone, so there's nothing to sign up for and no password to remember. Just make sure you're signed in to iCloud on your device (Settings → your name).
How do I invite someone to a gathering? +
Open the gathering (or a grocery list), tap the invite button, and search for your friend by the display name they've set in the app. Send the invite and they'll get it inside the app — they tap once to join. No phone numbers or emails needed.
My friend can't find me when they search. What's wrong? +
A few things to check:
- Make sure you've set a display name in the app — that's what makes you searchable.
- Confirm you're signed in to iCloud and have a working internet connection.
- Have your friend search the exact name you set, starting from the first letters.
Give it a moment after setting your name for the first time, then have them try again.
Why didn't I get a notification for an invite? +
Make sure notifications are enabled for the app in iOS Settings → Notifications → Eat | Greet | Gather. Invitations also appear inside the app under your invitations section even if a push notification doesn't arrive, so you can always check there.
Is my data private? +
Yes. Your gatherings, lists, and messages sync through your own Apple iCloud account. We don't run ads, we don't sell your data, and we don't track you across other apps. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.
How do I share a grocery list? +
Open a grocery list, tap the invite/share button, and invite a friend the same way you'd invite them to a dinner. Once they join, you can both add items and check things off — updates appear for everyone in real time.
How do I delete my data? +
You can delete individual gatherings, lists, and messages inside the app. To remove the app's stored data from your Apple account, go to iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage and remove the app's data. Deleting the app also removes its local copy from that device.
Which devices are supported? +
Eat | Greet | Gather is an iPhone app and currently requires iOS 17 or later, with iCloud signed in. It's in beta right now — if you'd like access, email us at hello@doublee.io.
Check your connection
Syncing and invites need internet and iCloud signed in. Most hiccups clear up once both are active.
